AIDS Walk
What Is It?
The Scotiabank AIDS Walk for Life is a national awareness and fundraising event that takes place every year in communities all across Canada. Funds raised support direct programs and services for Canadians living with HIV/AIDS in their communities.
Why?
As many as 68,000 people are living with HIV/AIDS in Canada. One third of them don’t even know it. There is no cure and no vaccine to prevent new infections. When you have HIV/AIDS, life gets a lot harder. You can help.
Where?
Local events are hosted by AIDS Service Organizations in your community. All Scotiabank AIDS Walk for Life proceeds remain in the community and provide necessary funds for support services and programs for people living with HIV/AIDS.
How Can I Help?
REGISTER – Register as a walker and ask people to sponsor you. You can do this on the internet if you like. You can use social networking tools to tell your family, friends and colleagues why this cause is important to you! You can lead a team or join an existing team.
DONATE – You can sponsor yourself or other walkers or both. Or, you can just make a general donation. All Donations are eligible for an official tax receipt.
WALK – It’s great to be there with our extended family and to take part in an important cause. To make a difference in the lives of those infected or affected by HIV/AIDS. To celebrate life and remember our losses.
VOLUNTEER – AIDS Service Organizations are always looking for good people to offer their time, skills and compassion. Why not contact them to find a volunteer opportunity that is just right for you?
